ABSTRACT
Objective: In this study, it was aimed to test the construct validity of the Turkish version of the Physical Literacy in Children Questionnaire (PL-C Quest), which was developed to determine the physical literacy levels of children, by confirmatory factor analysis. Material and Methods: 241 students, 122 girls and 119 boys between the ages of 8-12, participated in the study. It was determined that 78.42% of the participants didn't do sports (n:189), 21.58% did sports (n:52), and those who did sports were determined to have been doing sports for an average of 3.48±2.00 years. The 30 items picture questionnaire has 4 sub-dimensions: physical, psychological, social and cognitive domain. The reliability levels of the scales used in the research were calculated by the internal consistency method and the Cronbach Alpha reliability criterion was used. To test the validity of the scale, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyzes were performed, respectively, and for convergent validity, Pearson correlation analysis was conducted with the Perceived Motor Competence Inventory for Children (PMC-C). Results: According to the confirmatory factor analysis results, the factor loads of the items in the questionnaire ranged from 0.50 to 0.89, and the model had good fit index values (χ2/df =2.07, RMSEA= 0.067, CFI= 0.97, GFI= 0.92, NNFI= 0.96, NFI= 0.96, RMR= 0.056, SRMR= 0.036 and AGFI=0.90) is seen. Statements numbered 6,7,8,14,26,30 were removed from the scale because it was determined that their correlation value with other items was below 0.30 and that they reduced the reliability level. The Cronbach Alpha and CR coefficients support the reliability of the questionnaire. Conclusion: The findings show that the PL-C Quest provides validity and reliability conditions for the assessment of physical literacy levels of children.
